I need help understanding why my ex girlfriend did this...?

If shes your ex, then it is not because your ugly. She obviously had feelings for you before so your looks wont matter. from the sounds of it, she either misses your company or wants you back but is trying to keep you guessing or second guessing herself. But then again thats jus what it sounds like to me
