Thoughts on this Black Metal Band?

WIITR is the band that got me listening to black metal actually. To be fair, I'm still quite new to the genre as well, and I come from more of a punk background (including a lot of crust and other metal influenced punk though). And most, though not all, of the black metal I listen to is on the more ambient and atmospheric end (eg: Xasthur, Weakling, Summoning, Drudkh, Procer Veneficus, Velvet Cacoon). They are also one of only two band that I've ever traveled a decent distance to see (the other being Amebix, both of which were at least 5 hours each way). I also like their political stance, which is more than I can say for a lot of the black metal bands I listen to. So I like them. At the same time, I can see why some raw black metal types would dislike them, especially some of the post-rock influence, but personally, I like it a lot. Their first full-length, Diadem of Twelve Stars is a little less ambient, if that is what bothers you.
